My Role Model

Hello everyone, sorry I've been out-of-pocket for awhile. This past week has been so busy and with the end of the semester around-the-corner plus Christmas, I've been extra busy. This week all the craziness should die down a bit so you should be hearing from me a lot more. The topic for Day 15 of Brittney's 30 Day Challenge is to describe your role model. For me my role model is the woman described in Proverbs 31. You can read the entire chapter here. I've written about the Proverbs 31 Woman in an earlier post and is the basis for the purpose of my blog. The woman mentioned in Proverbs 31 is a woman of excellence, carrying out the purpose given to her by God. She is an amazing wife, worker, entrepreneur, keeper of the home, and mother. She is wise, thrifty, smart, caring, and crafty. Most of all she does everything with joy. This is the kind of woman, wife, and mother I want to be and that I know God wants me to become.

Another woman that I look up to is Michelle Duggar from 19 Kids and Counting. I absolutely love this show and her! She is an amazing woman of God, mother, and keeper of the home. She has 19 kids and has home schooled every one of them. Both her and Jim Bob instruct their children in God's Word and teaches them to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. It is clear that they keep Christ the center of their marriage and family. She basically seems to be the personified version of the woman in Proverbs 31. You can visit their website here to learn more about them.

"An excellent wife, who can find?
For her worth is far above jewels.

The heart of her husband trusts in her,
And he will have no lack of gain.

She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life."

Day 2: My Purpose of Her Worth is Far Above Jewels

“An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.”

~Proverbs 31:10 (NASB)~

The title of my blog is Her Worth is Far Above Jewels which comes from one of my favorite verses and from one of my favorite books in the Bible – Proverbs 31:10. Proverbs 31, often referred to as The Proverbs 31 Woman chapter, are instructions given from a mother to her son on what to look for in a Godly wife. The chapter begins with the son Lemuel, now a grown male and king, reciting again the words his mother taught him. The wife described in this chapter was: creative, a hard worker, worked with a cheerful heart, served her husband, respected and supported her husband, motivated, planned ahead, a businesswoman, caring, dignified, strong, thrifty, managed family budget wisely, her husband trusted her with their possessions and everything for that matter, loving, faithful, her husband and children respected her, and most of all she did this by first and foremost looking to God. God’s will for her life was of upmost importance to her. She is clearly a woman after God’s own heart and a role model to all women at all ages and all walks of life.

In a world where its is hard to find great role models for women and to know what kind of a woman to become, in chapter 31 of Proverbs God paints a picture of what a real woman is created to be – what He has designed you and I to be. God calls this real woman Eshet Chayil, a woman of valor, a virtuous woman who has given God complete control of her life - one who has given God the pen to write her life story. A woman’s strength and worth does not rest in her works and earthly accomplishments, but her relationship with the Lord.

Like the woman mentioned in Proverbs 31, it is my purpose in life to bring glory to God and let His will be done in my life. One of the ways He will do this I believe is through my marriage as a wife and one day with how I raise and instruct my children. It is my goal in life to be the best wife and mother God created me to be, not of my own strength, but by His Son living His life through me and transforming me into His image daily. My goal for this blog is not only designed for you to see my journey with Christ, but also to inspire, encourage, get your creative juices flowing, and to give you hope through Christ.

“Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying: Many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all. Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”

~Proverbs 31:28-30 (NASB)~

Soli Deo Gloria!
