A Photo That Makes My Heart Melt

Seeing this picture always makes my heart melt. This is a picture of Raymond and I while we were dating in high school in 2004. I was 15, he was 17, and we were young and in love.

These two pictures also make my heart melt. These were taken on the day of our wedding proposal at Spring Mountain Ranch. This day was one of the second best days of my life, my wedding being number one of course. Raymond took me to Spring Mountain Ranch early in the morning, prepared a picnic lunch, and was a total gentleman. The day was perfect - beautiful weather and quiet (I was amazed that you couldn't hear the city noise at all). We played frisbee and enjoyed the whole day together. Raymond planned this all on his own, which made it even more special, romantic, and a surprise to me. I thought he had planned this for our 4-year anniversary of being together, but little did I know he had something better in mind: he was going to propose!

Around 3 in the afternoon, we were getting ready to head out, but we still hadn't opened our gifts we had gotten each other yet. I noticed that Raymond seemed a little nervous, and I was completely clueless as to why. Raymond opened his gift first, which now that I look back and reflect on it, may have been the last time he had to mentally prepare himself before popping the big question, but I digress. When it came time for me to open my gift, before I began tearing the gift to shreds, Ray stopped me, took my hand, and danced me to the center of the park field. This completely caught me off guard, I think I even said, "What are you doing? It's my turn to open my gift." Ray told me that gift I was about to open was a dud, and that the real gift he had with him. That's when he got down on one knee and said, "Brittany, we've been dating for four years now. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" In that moment, the world seemed to stop, as cliche as that sounds. Of course I said, "Yes!" Every time I reflect on that day and by looking at these pictures it truly makes my heart melt. God has been apart of Raymond and I's relationship from the very beginning. He has a plan for us and I'm so thankful for that. I'm so blessed I have such a wonderful, sweet, romantic, smart, and manly husband.

Taylor Swift's Love Story is a perfect closing!

We were both young when I first saw you

I close my eyes

And the flashback starts

I’m standing there

On a balcony in summer air

See the lights

See the party, the ball gowns

I see you make your way through the crowd

And say hello, little did I know

That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles

And my daddy said stay away from Juliet

And I was crying on the staircase

Begging you please don’t go, and I said

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone

I’ll be waiting all there’s left to do is run

You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess

It’s a love story baby just say yes

So I sneak out to the garden to see you

We keep quiet ‘cause we’re dead if they knew

So close your eyes

Escape this town for a little while

‘Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlett letter

And my daddy said stay away from Juliet

But you were everything to me

I was beggin you please don’t go and I said

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone

I’ll be waiting all there’s left to do is run

You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess

It’s a love story baby just say yes

Romeo save me, they try to tell me how to feel

This love is difficult, but it’s real

Don’t be afraid, we’ll make it out of this mess

It’s a love story baby just say yes

I got tired of waiting

Wondering if you were ever coming around

My faith in you was fading

When I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said

Romeo save me I’ve been feeling so alone

I keep waiting for you but you never come

Is this in my head? I don’t know what to think

He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring

And said, marry me Juliet

You’ll never have to be alone

I love you and that’s all I really know

I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress

It’s a love story baby just say yes

‘Cause we were both young when I first saw you
